Following the completion of the Feydhoo and Thinadhoo schemes, Van Oord’s trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) HAM 318 is now wrapping up the dredging operations in the Himmafushi areas.

The Feydhoo contract involved creation of 50 hectares of new land and the construction of a 1680 meter breakwater while the Thinadhoo part of the project resulted in 53 hectares of new land and 1852 meters of breakwater.

This last part of the contract will include creation of 21.6 hectares of new land and an 890 meter breakwater will be constructed as well.
