St. Helens Marina Dredging Project on the Table

St. Helens Marina, LLC is planning to perform cleanup operations of the Columbia River in order to give recreational watercraft an adequate amount of water depth to safely dock their vessels at the marina.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District has received an application for a Department of the Army permit for the St. Helens Marina dredging project.

According to the applicant, the project would remove accumulated sediments within the marina and boat ramp in order to provide safe access to recreational watercraft.

Dredging is planned to take place over an area approximately 200 feet wide by 300 feet long, totaling 60,000 square feet or 1.37 acres, down to an elevation of -5 feet Columbia River Datum (CRD).

There would be approximately 12,000 cubic yards removed initially with another 6,000 cubic yards removed every 5 years as needed for 10 years. A total of up to 24,000 cubic yards would be removed from within the marina over the course of the permit.

The deadline for sending comments is November 17, 2016.
