Public Meeting on South Skunk River Erosion Control This Week
The City of Ames, IA, said in its latest announcement that a project informational meeting for the 2016/17 Storm Water Erosion Control Program (South Skunk River) will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
The meeting will outline the intent and scope of the project, as well as the construction schedule and temporary impacts to the trail along the project.
“The public is invited to attend and provide feedback regarding the project and share any special access concerns that may arise during construction,” the city said in its release.
The City of Ames has contracted with RDG Planning & Design of Des Moines to design improvement plans for the South Skunk River adjacent to Carr Park, Homewood Golf Course, and Inis Grove Park.
This project will include river bank stabilization, slope stabilization, and drainage improvements to the trail along the South Skunk River.
The scheme will be known as the 2016/17 Storm Water Erosion Control Program, and is intended to be constructed during 2018, weather dependent.
