Martin County Beach Renourishment Project in Final Phase
Dredging operations have moved from Borrow Area A and into the south end of the Sailfish Point Navigation channel, reports the Martin County.
According to the County, the project is in the final phase of operations in the channel and all dredge equipment will be moved out of the Sailfish Point Navigation channel and into the impoundment basin within the next two weeks.
“Boaters are encouraged to use patience while operations continue in this area of the projects construction and to remember, maintaining a safe distance from the equipment and pipes will help to keep the project on track. Boaters can use marine VHF channel 11 if they have any questions while navigating around the dredge equipment,” the County said.
The renourishment project is part of a FEMA Hurricane Recovery Project. The contractor has been dredging sand from the St. Lucie Inlet flood shoals and the Sailfish Point Navigational Channel, pumping it on the Bathtub Beach to combat the impact of strong currents, heavy wind and waves.
