East Ballina dredging wraps up

Infrastructure

Dredging and foreshore works along Compton Drive, East Ballina are now complete, Ballina Shire Council reports.

Synergy Resource Management

Work has already started at the Fenwick Drive Foreshore at Shaws Bay, according to the council.

Newly processed sand from dredging at the bay will be placed along this section of foreshore to improve access to the water for recreational use.

These works will take approximately 10 days to complete, weather permitting.

Also, access to the reserve, foreshore and bay will be limited during this time.

The shared path along Fenwick Drive will be closed in sections, but access will be maintained adjacent to the construction compound via a temporary path to the foreshore and bay, said the council.

These beach replenishment and landscaping works are part of the Shaws Bay Coastal Zone Management Plan to ensure that we continue to protect and provide the ecological, cultural, recreational and economic benefits residents and visitors currently appreciate.
