VIDEO: Cleveland Harbor works on display

The USACE Buffalo District’s contractor Ryba Marine Construction Co. dredged 55,000 cubic yards of dredged material from the Upper Cuyahoga River/Cleveland Harbor this Fall.

Subject to the availability of funds, Cleveland Harbor is dredged twice every year, once in the spring and once in the fall.

Natural sedimentation within the federal channel from upstream erosion is the main need for dredging.

Millions of cubic yards of sediment must be dredged from U.S. ports, harbors, and waterways each year to maintain and improve the Nation’s navigation system for commercial vessels, national defense, and recreational purposes.
