Dhuvaafaru land reclamation kicks off

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has officially started the R. Dhuvaafaru land reclamation and shore protection project.

Under the contract, a land area of 22 hectares will be reclaimed during this $9.3 million job.

According to MTCC, the scheme is set to be completed with 445 days. 

In fact, the project was contracted to MTCC in November 2020. MTCC CEO, Adam Azim, signed the contract on behalf of the company, while the Director General of Planning Ministry, Fathimath Shaana Farooq, put her signature on behalf of the Ministry.

Also, MTCC has won contracts for land reclamation in R. Dhuvaafaru, H.A. Ihavandhoo, A.A. Ukulhas, Th. Hirilandhoo, M. Dhiggaru and G.A. Dhaandhoo.

Moreover, coastal protection projects at Ihavandhoo, Ukulhas and Hirilandhoo will also be carried out as part of this development program.
