Okeechobee Waterway dredging moves forward

Maintenance dredging within Reaches 3 and 4 of the Okeechobee Waterway (OWW) in Martin County, Fla. is underway.

Maintenance dredging within the OWW has not occurred since the project was originally dug, said the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District.

Dredging began in February and is scheduled to end in July 2021.

Dredging operations are in 12 hour shifts, seven days a week until completion.

The project includes dredging of approximately 42,000 cubic yards of material from Reach 3 and 30,000 cubic yards of material from Reach 4, with placement in the newly constructed Dredge Material Management Area (DMMA) 07.
