The event will be held at the Prairie du Chien City Hall, 214 E Blackhawk Ave., in Prairie du Chien.

The open house will focus on areas within Pool 9 and Pool 10, which includes the area south of Lock and Dam 8 in Genoa, Wisconsin, to Lock and Dam 10 in Guttenberg, Iowa.

A brief overview about the Mississippi River and the Corps’ navigation mission will be presented at 5:30 and repeated at 7 p.m.

“Corps staff will be available throughout the open house to answer questions about the organization and to discuss options where to best place dredged material, or river sand, that is removed from the navigation channel through dredging operations,” USACE said.

USACE needs to keep the Mississippi River navigation channel open for commercial traffic to ensure the stability of the national, regional and local economies.
