The $8 million contract was awarded to Cavache Inc. based in Pompano Beach, Fla.

This effort will restore eroded shoreline along Miami-Dade County within the Village of Bal Harbour.

The sand source for the project will be the Baker’s Haulover Flood shoal dredging and a sand truck haul.

According to USACE, the project is scheduled to begin late this summer.

This work is 100 percent federally funded via the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 (Public Law 115-123), which goes toward projects that will reduce risk to communities damaged by storm events such as hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017.
