The Broads Authority (UK) officials, in their Notice to Mariners – NTM 02 of 2023, announced that starting mid-February they will be undertaking dredging works on the Upper River Ant.

As reported, the dredging will commence on Monday, 13th of February, and will continue until early to mid-October October 2023 (during the hours of 0800 hours and 1600 hours daily, excluding weekends).

The site stretches along the upstream end of the River Ant, from Wayford Bridge to Barton Broad, and Sutton Staithe and Stalham Dyke (shown in red on the plan extract).

The maintenance works on the water will involve the use of floating pontoons and small works vessels. During the above period navigation will remain open, but vessels must exercise great care whilst proceeding past the vicinity of the works, the Broads Authority said in the notice.

As with previous projects the material arising from dredging activities will be used beneficially where possible.
