Norfolk Dredging wins Wilmington Harbor contract

Norfolk Dredging Co. of Chesapeake, Virginia, has won a $18 million USACE contract for Wilmington Harbor Anchorage Basin /Mid-River Maintenance Dredging works.

According to the Corps, the project includes maintenance dredging of upper Wilmington Harbor federal navigation channel reaches including the Anchorage Basin and Turning Basin Extension.

The work also calls for maintenance of middle Wilmington Harbor federal navigation channels from Upper Brunswick to Battery Island.

This will require the contractor to use a mechanical dredge and barges to transport material to the disposal site. The estimated quantity of material to be dredged is around 2 million cubic yards.
