The pontoon will install the gravel bed on which the 89 concrete elements of the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link will rest as they are immersed to the seabed.

The Multi Purpose Pontoon, built at the CRIST S.A. shipyard in Gdynia, Poland, was delivered to the Femern Link Contractors (FLC) joint venture, including DEME, for Femern A/S at a ceremony on Monday.

The new giant measures 130 metres in length, 45 metres in width, and boasts a substantial gross tonnage of 17,577.

With its exceptional precision, even at significant depths, it can expertly install layers of gravel, ensuring a uniform foundation.

The vessel can accommodate a crew of 19, sufficient for two work shifts, and is equipped with two large tanks, each capable of holding up to 7,000 tons of gravel.

Currently two floating pontoons are under construction at the CRIST shipyard to transport the 89 tunnel elements from the floating dock in Rødbyhavn to their final destination.
