At its Jan. 2 meeting, the council authorized Mayor Ronnie Wright to sign the Rural County Economic Development Interlocal Agreement for the Oak Harbor Marina dredging project.

The dredging – one of the City’s top infrastructure projects – will remove accumulated sediment that has reduced the depth of the seafloor at the marina.

According to the City, dredging of the marina presents growth opportunities for the Oak Harbor. “The project will make all slips usable in all tidal conditions. This will allow us to accommodate larger boats with deeper drafts, attract more events, large sailboat races, boat shows & etc.”

The last time Oak Harbor Marina was dredged was in 2011. During that project, there were several areas that were not dredged. The effort removed approximately 20,000 cubic yards of material.
