Due to a series of incidents related to dredging operations at USACE projects across the nation since September 2020, including two fatalities at beach and dredge placement sites, USACE is reaffirming its commitment to a safety culture and safe working environment.

This includes direct engagement by US Army Corps of Engineers District Commanders and leaders at district dredging projects, sharing best practices, taking immediate corrective actions to address discrepancies, and ensuring all staff are properly trained.

Following the Board of Investigations (BOIs) review into the above-mentioned fatalities, USACE determined adequate training does not exist for the landside portion of dredging/beach nourishment projects to educate staff on adequate engineering controls where the work interfaces with the public.

This webinar will discuss different construction and safety aspects of beach nourishment projects, including special considerations that must be taken when working in an environment that may lead to lots of interactions with the public.
