The peer-reviewed papers in this practice-oriented journal present solutions to dredging and placement problems that are not normally available in traditional journals.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, dredging techniques, hydrographic surveys, dredge automation, dredge safety, dredged material placement, transport of sediment through pipes, design of dredging equipment, dredging software, environmental dredging, beneficial uses, Engineering with Nature®, contaminated sediments, etc.

This issue of WEDA’s Journal of Dredging includes two excellent manuscripts. The first manuscript comes from colleagues at Texas A&M University with a graduate student as the primary author. This manuscript synthesizes available design guidance and best practices associated with Confined Aquatic Disposal (CAD).

The second manuscript is an expansion of a paper presented by Andrew McQueen at the 2023 Dredging Summit and Expo. It describes an example of using EWN best practices to manage dredged material sustainably. This specific project focused on the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers, but the lessons learned apply broadly.
