Dredging operations are scheduled to occur between June 3 and September 14, 2024, primarily in the three fingers area of the East Channel and the outfall into Great Slave Lake.

During this second season of the dredging project, approximately 80,000 cubic meters of sediment will be removed from the harbor.

Building on the progress made in the summer of 2023, key improvements are being implemented to improve dredging productivity and adapt to the extreme low water conditions,” the Government said.

The Government of the Northwest Territories also added that they will be coordinating with the Coast Guard and commercial fishers to minimize disruptions between construction and essential travel.
