VOSTA LMG’s partner yard J.J. Sietas KG has delivered the first Trailer Suction Hopper Dredger ‘Werner Möbius’ in Hamburg on Friday December 3rd. The ship is delivered to owner Josef Möbius Bau-Aktiengesellschaft, an affiliated company of the Austrian STRABAG AG.

The new Hopper Dredge was showed to a variety of guests invited by Josef Möbius Bau- Aktiengesellschaft during a Christening Ceremony, arranged at the Cruise Terminal Hafencity in Hamburg. The afternoon started with a welcoming speech, followed by the Christening that was executed by Mrs. Eke Möbius herself. All guests had the opportunity to go on board of the Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger. In the beginning of July 2008, VOSTA LMG concluded a contract with J.J. Sietas KG, Schiffswerft GmbH & Co., Hamburg, Germany, for the supply of each one engineering and component package for the construction of two Trailing Suction Hopper Dredges (TSHD); one 5.500 m3 and one 7.350 m3 hopper capacity.

The second TSHD (5.500 m3) is planned to be delivered in January 2012 and will come with a few modifications. Both Trailing Suction Hopper Dredges are of latest design criteria and featuring environmental friendly diesel-electric propulsion systems. Through application of modular block building of sections and repeated use of standardized components, the building of these Trailing Suction Hopper Dredges could be achieved without major design changes.

The range of this certain modular block building Trailing Suction Hopper Dredges varies from 4.200m³, 5.500m³ to 7.200m³.
