SLPA Supports 7th Southern Asia Ports Logistics 2012

The two day 7th Southern Asia Ports, Logistics and Shipping 2012 Exhibition and Conference supported by Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) will commence on 26th April 2012 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo.

Southern Asia Ports, Logistics and Shipping is the largest annual Container Ports, Shipping and Transport Logistics B2B Exhibition and Conference trade event in Southern Asia.

The 7th Southern Asia Ports, Logistics and Shipping 2012 will comprise both a world-class exhibition and Conference. The conference will feature 35 world-class speakers in global logistics and transport and the event will be attended by more than 250 senior executives from the world’s leading ports, shippers, cargo owners, shipping lines, freight forwarders, logistics companies, terminal operators, railways operators and port-rail equipment services suppliers from 30 countries that include China, India, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Germany, Italy, Singapore and Hong Kong. The keynote address of the event will be delivered by Dr.Priyath B.Wickrama – Chairman of SLPA. Managing Director of SLPA Capt.Nihal Keppetipola will address the first day of the conference on the theme ‘The Colombo Port Expansion Project (Colombo South Harbour)’ and will also act as the Moderator of this international conference on day two.

The concurrent two day trade exhibition of 60 international exhibition stands held parallel to this international conference will provide a valuable opportunity for the companies to market products and services to participants at this prestigious annual event.

This annual maritime transport exhibition and conference B2B trade event is designed to promote transportation in the region at a larger scale adding capacity to a number of key areas such as recent developments of containerized infrastructure development in Southern Asia, key success factors for wireless productivity, challenges in financing infrastructure development projects in Southern Asia, achieving greater efficiency and performance improvement of port operations, strategies in optimizing capability and efficiency of terminal utilization as well as technology, innovations and cutting edge solutions for port operations.

Prior to this international event more than 90 foreign delegates participating in the trade exhibition and conference made an exclusive tour of the Port of Colombo on 25th April 2012, covering its all existing facilities including all terminals. In order to extend a first hand sight of the current developments of the on going port projects in Colombo the tour also included a visit of the Colombo Port expansion Project.
