Emerald Isle Beach Replenishment Set for Next Year

The Emerald Isle and Pine Knoll Shores beach replenishment program is scheduled for the beginning of the next year, reports jdnews.com.

This project will include pumping of approximately 913,000 cubic yards of fresh sand, dredged from the Morehead City harbor channel, onto the beaches at the mentioned area.

The cost of the project will be divided as follows:

– The Federal Emergency Management Agency – $7 million;

– The Carteret County Beach Commission – $5.8 million;

– The Town of Emerald Isle – $1.4 million;

– The Pine Knoll Shores – $512,000.

According to Carteret County Shore Protection Manager Greg Rudolph, the replenishment project will likely commence in Pine Knoll Shores.
