Army Corps to Invite Bids for CIDMMA Program

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District, has a requirement for the construction of approximately 3840 feet of shoreline protection at the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area (CIDMMA), Portsmouth, VA.

The purpose of this development project is to replace the existing concrete rubble with six engineered riprap breakwaters. Sand fill mined from CIDMMA will be placed landward of the breakwaters.

Another objective is to protect up to 3840 linear feet of shoreline along the west shore of CIDMMA.

The total value is estimated between $5 mln and $10 mln, and the anticipated date of the solicitation for this contract is on or about 28 June 2013.
