The contract for dredging of the northern arm of Visakhapatnam Port has been awarded to the Dredging Corporation of India (DCI).
According to The Times of India, this represents the last of three projects that Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) is conducting to increase the navigable depths at the major port.
The depth of the northern arm will be expanded to 16.5 meters, and the project will include dredging of nearly 1 million cubic meters of soil.
As VPT official announced the dredging project is planned to begin by July and it is expected to last around six months.
Until now VPT completed one dredging project in Visakhapatnam Port, the second one is underway, and as soon as it’s completed the third project in the northern arm will begin.
