Congressman Announces Grant for Lake Charles
Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) announced that the Department of Transportation has awarded a $10 million grant to the Lake Charles Harbor and Terminal District Project.
This funding will be used for the BT1 Infrastructure Expansion Project to construct a barge fleeting area, new berths, bulkhead, and conveyors. It will also provide for additional dredging to match these new installations.
Boustany said: “Our ports and harbors are the key to Louisiana’s continued success. As countries around the world develop their ports and waterways, we must continue working hard to grow our competitive advantage. This grant will be a great boost to Lake Charles as we continue preparing for the investment and opportunities coming to this area.”
