VIDEO: Panama Canal Expansion – October 2015

Seven years had passed since the inauguration of the Panama Canal Expansion Program and the project continues forward at full speed.

The countdown for the completion of the expansion is on where every component, every cubic meter of excavated and dredged rock bring this mega-project closer to the launch phase.

Works on the Panama Canal Expansion, with a price tag of over $5.2 billion, began on September 2007, following six years of research, The research included more than 100 studies on the economic feasibility, market demand, environmental impact and other technical engineering aspects.

After the expansion is completed, the Post-Panamax vessels with up to 13,000 TEUs will be able to transit through the canal, doubling its capacity.
