DEME Group has just released this amazing photo of a giant piece of technology that will be installed on their powerful cutter suction dredger (CSD) ‘Spartacus’.

“The 2,500 tonne cutter ladder is by far the strongest and most sophisticated ever built,” said DEME in its announcement.

The ladder houses the power driving equipment for cutting the hardest rock and drives the cutter head through the soil. This one can reach an unrivaled depth of 45m, DEME said.

DEME’s new LNG CSD was launched on November 10, 2018, at the Royal IHC shipyard in Krimpen aan den Ijssel in the Netherlands.

With a total installed capacity of 44,180 kW, the vessel is one of the most powerful and environmental friendly cutter suction dredgers that has ever been built.
