Etermar wins Lajes Port tender

Etermar, one of the largest Portuguese companies specialised in marine construction, has won another tender for a port-development project.

A year ago, hurricane Lorenzo destroyed the most western port in Europe.

Now, the consortium led by Etermar – Engenharia e Construção, S.A., together with SACYR Somague and Tecnovia Açores won the tender launched by Portos dos Açores, S.A. for the construction of the port’s pier.

This represents the first phase of the reconstruction following the events of October 2019.

“This infrastructure is fundamental for the Island’s economy and Etermar is proud to contribute to this project,” the company stated.

This is not the first such project undertaken by Etermar. The company previously worked on many similar port development projects in the country.

Some of the recent projects include work on the PSA Terminal XXI in Sines, Portugal; new cruise ship dock in Funchal, Madeira; construction of the Port of Leixões’ cruise terminal; etc.
