The first Young WEDA Award coming today

This year for the first time the Western Dredging Association will recognize a Young Professional, who has made contributions of significant value to WEDA and the dredging community in recent years.

The Young WEDA Award will be presented at the 2021 WEDA Dredging Summit, which starts today June 15. The summit will consist of a series of technical and award presentations on June 15, 16, and 17th from 1 to 5 EST.

According to WEDA, the response for nominations for the WEDA Young Professional of the Year Award 2021 has been enthusiastic. Ten young people 35 or younger have been named by their colleagues and co-workers for the award.

“The Award Winner will receive a plaque, be recognized on the WEDA website, in a press release and in an email to all WEDA members, and receive an additional one-year free membership to WEDA,” the Association said in their announcement.

During the 2021 Virtual Dredging Summit several awards will be presented to recognize individuals, organizations, and project teams for outstanding engineering and operational achievements while meeting the goals and objectives of WEDA.

These include:

• Environmental Excellent Awards | Presented at the Opening Session – June 15th at 1 PM EST
• Safety Excellence Awards | Presented at the Safety Plenary – June 17th at 1 PM EST
• Young Professional of the Year Award | Presented at the Opening Session – June 15th at 1 PM EST
• Anchor QEA Young Author Award | Presented at the Opening Session – June 15th at 1 PM EST
• DSC Dredging “Why Dredging is Good” Paper Award | Presented at the Opening Session – June 15th at 1 PM EST
• Moffatt & Nichol / WEDA Best Paper Award | Presented at the Opening Session – June 15th at 1 PM EST
