Ambassador Ledda was given a briefing on the services provided by Jan De Nul and a tour of the company’s facilities, which included its fabrication workshops, product design area, and simulator rooms.

Discussions centered on how JDN could participate in the development efforts of the Philippines, specifically in dredging and reclamation projects, building ships in the shipbuilding facilities in Subic, and sustaining the country’s renewable energy initiatives through projects such as off-shore wind farms.

Tracing its roots to 1849, Jan De Nul was part of his family’s fourth generation engaged in the building contracting business when he established the limited-liability company PVBA Jan De Nul in 1938.

From an initial contract to build a civil hospital and monastery in Ninove, Belgium, the family-owned company, now in its sixth generation, has grown through the decades to become a world leader in dredging, reclamation, and the construction of off-shore wind farms.

In the Philippines, Jan De Nul previously participated in the reclamation project in the vicinity of the Mall of Asia in Pasay City. The firm is currently involved in a similar project in Navotas City.
