The activities to deepen the area between two port terminals are expected to be completed by the end of July, said Port Infrastructure State Enterprise General Director, Ivaylo Ivanov.

The main goal of the project is to provide greater depths, which will lead to the arrival of larger vessels in Burgas, including container ships,” said Ivanov.

The planned depth of the project is nearly 16m and the dredged material is set to be transported to predetermined locations.

The work, which is managed by the private operator BMF Port Burgas, is financed by the European Union and is worth over BGN 70 million.

Dredging is being conducted by Bulgarian-Dutch Consortium Cosmos Van Oord DZZD.
