Ecuador: Manta Close to Finalising New Container Terminal Tender

According to worldcargonews.com, Guillermo Morán, managing director of Manta port authority in Ecuador, has stated that the organisation is close to finalising terms and conditions for the international tender that will result in a complete new container terminal complex being built at the port.

The bid specifications are 95% ready,” said Morán in an interview given to the national news agency ANDES last week. “We estimate that the eventual tender will be issued some time between March 15 and March 23.”

Several international operators have already submitted expressions of interest.

Those in the public domain include Ultramar, SAAM and Empresas Navieras from Chile, along with DP World, Ports America and China Merchants. In addition, a bid is expected from a Peruvian-Argentie consortium, while Spain’s Grup TCB may also put in a bid.
