Xylem Expands Latin American Presence

Xylem expands Latin American presence

In response to rapid growth in Panama, Xylem has opened a new sales and service office to provide greater customer support to the developing Latin American market.

For Xylem, a leading global water technology company focused on addressing the world’s most challenging water issues, this expansion in Latin America reflects the company’s commitment to grow in emerging markets. Xylem’s Flygt(R) and Godwin(R) pumps are already being used for dredging and construction work in the Panama Canal project, the first expansion of the Panama Canal since it was built 100 years ago.

Panama offers immense growth potential for Xylem,” said Simoni Dobrowolski, managing director of Xylem’s Panama office. The expansion of the Panama Canal, extensive mining and dewatering projects, as well as commercial and residential opportunities, mean that we see a lot of opportunity in Panama. We are looking forward to providing our expert water solutions capabilities to local customers.

Our technical collaboration with the Panama Canal Authority extends back many years and we are well-positioned to grow this relationship to create new and exciting opportunities for Xylem,” Dobrowolski said.

In addition, Xylem foresees strong growth within Panama’s mining industry. Panama is home to two of the world’s largest, undeveloped copper deposits which, combined with Panama’s extensive rainfall, offer significant opportunities for the company’s dewatering business. To better meet the treatment needs of the population, the Juan Diaz Wastewater Treatment Plant was recently built in Panama City, where Xylem’s solutions are helping to improve the quality of discharge water and the current conditions of Panama Bay.
