USA: Senators Demand Dredging

According to the Fairplay 24, a group of 25 U.S. Senators sent a letter to the White House last week urging the Obama administration to spend more on dredging federal harbors.

In stark contrast, over the past few years, the budget requests for operations and maintenance of harbours and ports for which this trust fund is intended to be used has averaged around $800M. Clearly, the revenues are not being used for their intended purposes,” the letter declared.

Carl Levin, Joseph Lieberman, Richard Shelby, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Charles Schumer and Barbara Boxer were among the 25 senators that signed this letter.
