Dredging Project Flagged Off in Hangaarakatte and Kodibengere

On Wednesday, Kota Srinivas Poojary, Minister for Muzrai, flagged off the dredging operations to remove the silt accumulated in Hangarakatte and Kodibengre fishing dock.

Speaking on the occasion, he informed that the dredging work will soon begin in Hejamadi and Gangolli, a survey has been conducted. In Mangalore, the development plan is already setup and a tender of Rs 5.5 cr has been issued in Udyavar.

In Hangarkatte – Kodibengre, a barge is sanctioned by the state government, which can transport three cars and 20 bikes simultaneously,” said Poojary.

The estimated cost of dredging undertaken in Kodibengre fishing dock is Rs 1.94 cr while that in Hangarkatte fishing dock is said to be Rs 1.32 cr. The work is sponsored both by the state and central government.

The dredging work at Hangarkatte and Kodibengre has been handed over to Eagle Marine Infrastructure Company. The work will be completed within three months,” said Poojary.

Yashpal Suvarna, president of fishing federation, Keshava Kunder, president of Moghaveera Mahajana Sangha, Raghavendra Kanchan, taluk panchayat member, BB Kanchan, Govind Suvarna, Manohar Kundar, Babu Thingalaaya, Nagesh Thingalaaya and Manjunath Kharvi, assistant engineer, were present among others.
