NITC to Study Use of Sediments for Land Reclamation (India)

Experts from the National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) are in the process of preparing a detailed report on the possibilities of using seabed sediments for reclaiming the land for Koyilandy harbor, Times of India informs.

The team visited the harbor to study which type of sediments would be suitable for reclamation work.

The contractor stopped the work because of the shortage of sand, and it will be continued only after the completion of the reclamation work. The additional Rs 10 crore is required for the completion of the harbor work, after the government allotted funding of Rs 56 crore.

The contractor is already seeking this funding from the state.
