Ecology Seeks Comments on Leavenworth’s Shoreline Update

The Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) is seeking public comment on Leavenworth’s recently updated shoreline master program as it begins review of the document adopted by the city council on Jan. 22, 2013.

Leavenworth’s locally tailored shoreline program is designed to help minimize environmental damage to shoreline areas, reserve appropriate areas for water-oriented uses, and protect the public’s right to public land and waters.

The proposed updated shoreline program will guide construction and development in the city’s 5,000 feet of shoreline. It combines local plans for future development and preservation with new development ordinances and related permitting requirements.

Ecology will accept comment on Leavenworth’s proposed shoreline program through Dec. 16, 2013.
