News in Photos: Dhaka UDDP Dredging

Dhaka WASA Drainage (O&M) Circle has recently started the Urban Dredging Demonstration Project (UDDP) as a part of the Water Operators Partnership (WOP) between Dhaka WASA and Vitens Evides International (VEI).

This project comes as a part of recently started 10-year dredging scheme, launched by Dhaka WASA, to clean all canals in the capital of Bangladesh.

The following photos show a delegation at the bank of the Agargaon canal learning more about the project and the two floating bulldozers (diesel and electric) working on the site.

Dhaka WASA members explained how the floating bulldozers push the garbage and sediment material from the channel towards the excavator and how the electric floating bulldozers can be extremely useful for working in narrow canals and box culverts.
