Evans River Dredging Begins

Dredging operations are scheduled start this week on the Evans River and boat harbor at Evans Head, according to the Northern Star.

The NSW Government contributed more than $550,000 toward the Evans Head dredging project, said Member for Clarence Chris Gulaptis.

This dredging program will involve removal of around 18,000 cubic meters of clean marine sand from the Evans River navigation channel.

The sand will be used to renourish the beach area between the Evans River northern breakwater and the Beach Street carpark, the Northern Star informed.

Another 2,000 cubic meters of sediment will be dredged from the boat harbor and pumped into geotextile bags,” added Gulaptis.

Once dewatered, the sediment will then be transported offsite to a licensed landfill facility.
