Royal IHC Cuts Steel for Hopper Dredger DC Orisant

Royal IHC today held a steel cutting ceremony for Reimerswaal Dredging’s new multi-purpose 5,450m³ TSHD “DC Orisant”.

The vessel is being built for joint venture consisting of Den Herder (Reimerswaal Dredging) and Group de Cloedt.

According to the shipbuilder, the dredge installation has been designed to dredge marine aggregates (sand and gravel) for the construction industry.

The DC Orisant will also be extremely suitable for performing regular dredging projects, such as maintenance dredging and beach nourishment. The DP2 installation enables the vessel to perform support activities for the construction of offshore wind farms.

Delivery of the DC Orisant, the first complete diesel electric aggregate dredger in the market, is slated for 2018.
