Army Corps Unveils Calumet River Dredging Plan

The Chicago District Corps of Engineers has issued a pre-solicitation notice for its Calumet Harbor maintenance dredging.

The contractor will be responsible for providing all necessary facilities, plants, labor, transportation, materials, and equipment to perform mechanical dredging in the Calumet River to remove 10,000 cubic yards of sediment around specified bridges to maintain navigation into Lake Michigan and upstream Calumet Harbor. The Calumet River will be dredged to -27.0′ LWD (Low Water Datum) with a 1″ overdepth allowance.

The dredged sediment will be disposed in a Government furnished CDF by mechanical off-loading.
