UK: Sonardyne Exhibits at AUV 2012

Sonardyne Exhibits at AUV 2012

Continuing with its busy event season, Sonardyne International Ltd. will next be exhibiting at AUV 2012.

Held bi-annually by the Oceanic Engineering Society (IEEE-OES), this year’s conference is taking place at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton and marks the first time that the event has been to the UK. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Persistant Presence’ and will provide educational and networking opportunities for those working in the field of autonomous vehicles for ocean applications.

Located next to the delegate registration stand, Sonardyne will be exhibiting Solstice, a new generation of search and classify side scan sonar with integrated swath bathymetry. Specifically designed for operation on small, medium and large AUVs, Solstice provides wide swath coverage at high resolution whilst consuming less than 12 Watts of power. This results in high area coverage rates, long vehicle endurance and the highest quality imagery possible from a conventional sonar.

AUV 2012 is a great opportunity to promote Solstice. The Persistent Presence theme is a sign of the increasing maturity of AUVs with users demanding longer mission durations and higher levels of autonomy and sensor capability – these are all considerations that come as standard with Solstice,” said Phil Holland, Sales and Marketing Director for Sonardyne Wavefront. “We are looking forward to meeting with AUV designers and operators and discussing how Sonardyne’s technologies can benefit their operations.”
