UK Firms Show Interest in Vizhinjam Project

During the Emerging Kerala summit, the Vizhinjam International Port Project has received proposals from British firms for the dredging and breakwater construction work.

A senior port official stated: “We are satisfied with the responses we have got, and will consider this proposal after inviting global tenders to construct the super structure of the port.“

According to indiatimes.com, this Rs 4,010-crore Vizhinjam International Port Project is set to follow landlord port model.

Last month, the Kerala Government Cabinet decided not to accept the tender of Welspun-led consortium for the port operator contract of the Vizhinjam International Container Transhipment Project.

The contract will be re-tendered after getting the environmental clearance.
