Hickman Dredging Underway

Business & Finance

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry has temporarily halted its operations due to the Hickman Harbor dredging project, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said.

According to Ferry Captain Jeremy Newsom, a dredging vessel, owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is currently working in the Hickman Harbor to keep the channel and harbor open.

Due to limited space at the mouth of the harbor, the ferry won’t be able to access the Kentucky landing at Hickman until the dredging operations are complete. This dredging scheme is expected to last about 2 weeks.

The ferry provides passage between Kentucky and Missouri. It connects Kentucky 1354 at Hickman with Missouri Route A and Route 77 near Dorena, Missouri.
