VIDEO: DP World T3 Development

DP World has just released a timelapse video of its Jebel Ali Container Terminal 3 (T3), from the construction to the operational phase.

The terminal, one of the largest semi-automated facilities in the world, is equipped with 19 highly automated quay cranes alongside the 1862 meter quay with a draft of 17 meters. Additionally 50 automated rail mounted gantry yard cranes (ARMG) operate on the 70 hectare storage yard.

In December 2011 DP World announced its intention to expand flagship port Jebel Ali in the UAE by creating an additional 4 million TEU capacity, resulting in total capacity at Jebel Ali reaching 19 million TEU by 2014.

Over the next three years (2011-2014), the company invested approx $850 million to complete construction of the new terminal within the existing container port.

The T3 was inaugurated in 2014 by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
