Crosby Bags Texas Dredging Deal

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded recently a $5.34 million contract to Crosby Dredging LLC for the maintenance dredging of the Houston Ship Channel.

Under the deal, the contractor will be required to remove approximately 500,000 cubic yards of material between Sims Bayou and the Turning Basin in Harris County, Texas.

Crosby will be using a pipeline dredge to complete the project, which is expected to begin in March 2017.

According to the Corps, the dredged material will be placed in West Clinton Placement Area.

The deadline for completion of the project is September 2017.

The USACE Galveston District was established in 1880 as the first engineer district in Texas to oversee river and harbor improvements. The district is directly responsible for maintaining more than 1,000 miles of channel, including 270 miles of deep draft and 750 miles of shallow draft as well as the Colorado River Locks and Brazos River Floodgates.
