Rønne Havn A/S, the largest traffic and commercial port on the Danish island of Bornholm, and the Danish contractor Per Aarsleff A/S have signed an agreement for the first phase of the commercial port extension.

“We have been so privileged to have a highly competent field of application but, based on the overall evaluation, decided to award the contract to Per Aaarsleff A/S,” said Thomas Bendtsen, CEO of Rønne Port.

During the first phase, a new 1.300 meter breakwater, a 300 meter long multi-purpose terminal, a 40 meter wide heavy-duty ro-ro and a 150.000m² port area will be established, the port said in their release.

In addition, the water depth will be increased to 11 meters.

“This means that, in addition to being able to accommodate the very large cruise ships – up to a length of approximately 350 meters, we also offers much greater opportunity to position Bornholm as a service and installation base in connection with the development of the planned tasks of the wind fields in the Baltic Sea,” added Bendtsen.

We are pleased that we were chosen for the job and look forward to addressing the task, which will undoubtedly be of great importance to the Bornholm business community,” said Rene Kold Søndergaard, contract manager at Per Aaarsleff A/S.

Being one of the largest cruise ports in Denmark, Rønne Havn is a vital engine of future growth and development of Bornholm.
