“Boaters must exercise caution when passing the dredge in the channel. The Dredge DB‐Beaver is available on Channel 80 and slacks its anchor wires for vessel traffic in and out of the channel,” said the City of San Rafael in its latest announcement.

The anchor wires sit on the bottom of the channel.

At low tide levels, in shallow portions of the channel, sailboats with deep keels should exercise extra caution.

Federally authorized in 1918, the San Rafael Federal Navigation Channel runs from the San Francisco Bay into the heart of northern Marin County.
