The new breakwater is to be longer than the existing one and will provide better protection for vessels moored in this area.

Next to the breakwater, Infrastructure Malta will construct a small ferry terminal for commuters that use this mode of travel to get to the existing ferry stops in Sliema, Valletta or Cospicua.

“We are constructing a new quay with safer berthing facilities and introducing new ferry landing facilities to continue improving the comfort and safety of this alternative mode of travel,” said Infrastructure Malta.

The development of the Bugibba breakwater is the fourth project of this type which Infrastructure Malta is developing for ferry passengers in Malta.
