All set for another Bathtub Beach renourishment project

Martin County, FL, has just announced that renourishment project at Bathtub Reef Beach is scheduled to begin this week.

This project takes place every 3 years as part of the County’s ongoing coastal resilience efforts. In 2021, Weeks Marine moved around 200,000 cubic yards of dredged sand onto the shoreline.

And while all beaches are naturally prone to gradual erosion from weather systems and severe storms- waves, tides and currents- all generate energy which further impact our barrier island and beaches,” Martin County said in the announcement.

The initial phase of the project includes dredging sand from the St. Lucie Inlet and Sailfish Point Channel areas, so boaters are advised to exercise caution during this time.
