Oceanside dredging to resume next week

The City of Oceanside, California, announced last week that the annual Army Corps’ dredge of the Harbor entrance has been put to a hold.

The city said yesterday that dredge vessel’s repair should be complete by the end of this week, and the Harbor dredging operation aims to re-start on Tuesday, May 28.

It is expected to run for about 4-5 days, and then demobilization of fencing and equipment will begin, the city said.

Last week, the dredge vessel experienced a substantial mechanical issue that forced the shut-down of the Harbor inlet dredge operation.

The dredge operators, Manson Construction, dry docked the vessel in Long Beach to repair.

The sand dredged by the Army Corps of Engineers from the Harbor inlet is pumped onto Oceanside beaches.
